Our Story
Long before The Blatt Group was a company, it was a work ethic.
Our story begins on a small farm, where our grandfather learned the value of early mornings, honest labor, and doing things the right way — even when no one was watching. Those lessons stayed with him when he left the farm in the 1940s and entered the construction trades as a concrete form carpenter, helping build the foundations of Reading, Pennsylvania one job at a time.
He didn’t talk much about success.
He believed in showing up, working hard, and standing behind your work.
That mindset shaped the next generation.
Our father followed the same path, studying carpentry at vo-tech before stepping straight into the field. He learned the trade from the ground up — working with his hands, gaining experience across countless projects, and earning the trust of the people around him.
After years of learning and long days on jobsites, he took a leap of faith.
In 1987, with three young sons at home and another on the way, he started his own company.
Not with big promises or grand plans — just a simple goal:
do good work, treat people fairly, and build something his family could be proud of.
The kids grew up around jobsites, in trucks, and alongside crews — not just watching the business, but learning what it meant to serve clients and take responsibility for every project. What started as a small operation became something more: a family legacy built slowly and steadily, one relationship at a time.
Because to us, construction has never just been about buildings.
It’s about trust.
It’s about keeping your word.
It’s about leaving things better than you found them.
And that’s still how we strive to work today.
